Georgia Golf, Augusta National Site of the Masters

Augusta National is in a class of its own when it comes to Georgia golf. Although few of us will ever get the chance to play there it is a must visit for every golfer. Should you ever get tickets to the Masters, either tournament days or practice rounds GO!!!!

What makes Augusta National uniquely different is the impeccable grooming of the grounds, on my first visit to Augusta National the one thing that sticks out in my mind was how perfect the grass looked on the fairways; it was so perfect it almost appeared fake. The surrounding beauty of the Azaleas and the dogwoods blooming in the warm spring sunshine make this one of my all time spring favorites. There is nothing compared to Georgia golf at Augusta National in the spring time.

Tickets to the Masters are not easy to come by. Tournament tickets have a waiting list that is years long and practice rounds are obtained by a lottery. If you want tickets and don’t want to wait years on the waiting list or take your chances with the lottery, you can find tickets online through a ticket broker. Don’t expect these tickets to come cheap, due to high demand these tickets will cost you much more than face value. Expect to pay $200.00 and up for a practice round and $1,500.00 or more for a single day tournament round ticket.

To get in the lottery for practice round tickets write to:

Masters Tournament Practice rounds P.O. Box 2047 Augusta GA30903-2047

If you want to get your name on the waiting list for tournament tickets sorry, the opportunity to get your name on the list has been closed since 2000.

My recommendation for the Masters is to go during the practice rounds days. The crowds are thinner and the players are more approachable. Many players will joke around during practice but are very serious during tournament play. A must visit location on the course during practice rounds is the par 3 16th. During practice rounds players will try to skip their shots off the water onto the green, the crowd loves it.

The hottest ticket for Georgia golf is the masters. If you get a chance to go don’t pass it up. You won’t be disappointed.
