GOLF PUTTING TIP STOP MISSING SHORT PUTTS BY USING CONSTANT GRIP PRESSURE
If you read my golf putting tip on curing the yips, you will remember I talked about the change in grip pressure during the putting stroke is the cause of the yips. Even though you may not have the yips, your putting will benefit by maintaining more consistant grip pressure. Missing to many short putts can be a sign grip pressure problems.
Question; when was the last time you thought about maintaining constant grip pressure while putting? Probably never. If your putting has not been up to par lately, or your constantly missing short putts, give this a try.
Next time you practice putting pay attention to grip pressure, especially if you felt you made a bad stroke. I am will to bet most evertime you made a poor stroke or missed a short putt your grip pressure changed. Since there is no one correct way to putt, the grip pressure doesn't matter if it's in the right hand, left hand, or both. What is important is to feel how much and where the grip pressure is at the beginning of the stroke, and be sure to have the same pressure in the same spots at the end of the stroke. Do this, not only will you make more short putts, but the long putts will end up closer to the hole more often.
